Okay, I promised you that I will write about my uber-cool Valentines' Day date, so.... here goes. I deemed it uber-cool, because it involved dining out in a very classy setting without spending a single cent. :P Haha.
Anyway, February 14, 2010 fell on a Sunday, so we first went to Marikina to attend Sunday Service (Amram's alarm did not go off, so he was not able to attend); then Mimi and I went home to Cubao for lunch. Amram arrived at our house around 1 o'clock. Mimi's friends weren't available that day, so we brought her along with us.
So we rode the MRT going to Ortigas, then walked our way to SM Megamall, to go to the Weddings and Debuts 2010 Fair, which was being held at Megatrade Halls 1, 2 and 3. :) Yes, you read that right. :P
The mall's lower levels was pretty much swamped with couples and families, so we decided to eat merienda later after attending the fair.
When we arrived, we retrieved our tickets from the booth (we were pre-registered guests), then started walking inside.
Man, I was so OVERWHELMED with what I saw.
There was a myriad of booths, ranging from catering, photography, wedding couture, event coordination, souvenirs, invitations, music / entertainment services, mobile bars, wedding venues, videography, bridal car rentals, make-up, and flower arrangement services. I didn't know where to start! Haha.
So we started following the flow of people, and stopped at every single booth we passed by. I literally had my white paper bag full of flyers, brochures, sample CDs, free magazines and pictures from the photobooths, free brownies, and other stuff. My feet were begging me to stop walking (shouldn't have used the black leather boots). I was expecting Amram to be a bit bored, but even he was excited about the photography services! Mimi had fun with the free brownies and nachos, and after talking with some event organizers, decided right then and there that SHE WOULD NOT HAVE A CONVENTIONAL DEBUT. Haha.
After more than three hours of canvassing, inquiring, wine-and-food-tasting, and lots of laughs, we were done. So we decided to pass by the Wedding Library store near it, then go somewhere to eat. Then Mimi saw that the three catering companies were holding free food tasting at the Conference Hall. The three of us fought about who was going to ask about the whole food tasting thing, and Mimi lost, so she asked the concierge about it.
It was a good thing that Mimi had guts (growling at the time) to ask about the food tasting, because after 20 seconds, we were being ushered to a room that actually resembled a wedding reception. We were given food stubs, that we were supposed to give to the waiter, then got our food from the buffet table. :) From my rough estimate (using the prices from the brochure), each of us ate food worth P400 pesos. :P
Haha. I just can't get over the fact that it was free, because every food tasted like from some 5-star restaurant.
Anyway, after that, we did a little stroll around the stores, then decided to go home (the paperbags were really heavy). We rode the MRT all the way to Cubao, then stopped by Farmers' Plaza, because Mimi had to buy something at Watsons, and Amram bought his sneakers at World Balance. Amram also bought me a huge bouquet of white roses (he was waiting for me the whole day to whine about not receiving flowers, but he did not hear anything from me, so... he "surprised" me with the bouquet that night).
*Sigh* What I enjoyed the most was (besides the free food --- HAHA!), the three of us bonded together on the day which was supposed to be for couples. Our bridal fair date was even more fun, because my sister came along, and she didn't act like some sad, old third wheel or chaperone. We treated each other as equals, as if we were the same age. Up to today, the three of us still cannot get over the events that took place that day. :)
So... I guess that's it. My mom regretted (a bit) the fact that she and KP were not able to go with us, when we told her what happened. But not to worry, there's another Bridal Fair in May, also to be held at Megatrade Hall, so... you can be sure that the three of us will be there. :) :)
